Tampa seems to be doing it right with its riverfront Curtis Hixon Park. I shared the wayfinding signs stamped into the sidewalk found throughout the park. Across the street is another #BringToOrlando idea where the city placed shade sails along the Zack Street pedestrian promenade. Now Tampa has yet another idea that we need to steal.
Check out these artistic crosswalks that Tampa has placed around Curtis Hixon Park and along Zack Street. These cool new crosswalks have small glass like beads in them that shine in the sunlight and headlights making the crosswalks even more noticeable than an average crosswalk does. The same type of design continued along the pedestrian area of Zack Street but with a different color scheme.
I'd love to see these in Mills50, I-Drive, and Downtown South. They actually are very visually grabbing and with the lines on either side still easy for a pedestrian to know how to use. For some more crosswalk inspiration check out this WebUrbanist post and these 16 fun ideas posted on TrendHunter drawn from crosswalks.
