Disney Announces New Daytime Parade for Magic Kingdom

It looks like Walt Disney World's new president means business when it comes to bringing locals back to the parks. George A. Kalogridis was promoted from President of the Disneyland California resort to oversee Walt Disney World, the company's largest resort complex by far. At Disneyland Kalogridis was known for attracting locals to the parks with an ever changing lineup of entertainment, deals, and new attractions. Since his move back to Orlando (this is the resort in which he began his Disney career) a number of major announcements have occurred

As part of this updating to the resort the latest announcement involves a new daytime parade for Magic Kingdom. Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade, the current daytime parade at the park, has been running since 2001. The small parade has seen better days, over the years there have been incidents that include a death of a cast member when a parade float drove over him backstage and at least one case of a parade breaking down while in front of cast members.

The new daytime parade will feature all new floats, costumes, and an original soundtrack that will merge popular Disney songs with a new parade theme song. Disney brands announced thus far include “The Little Mermaid,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Dumbo,” “Pinocchio,” “Peter Pan,” “Tangled” and the Disney - Pixar film “Brave." The parade will begin its daily run in Spring 2014 at which time New Fantasyland's final pieces will open.
