Earth Day in the Park & Arbor Day Tree Giveaway

On Saturday, April 20, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m the City of Winter Park and Rollins College will be hosting Winter Park’s second Earth Day in the Park & Arbor Day Tree Giveaway.Earth lovers will be able to visit with environmentally-friendly organizations, participate in educational workshops and public art displays, enjoy delicious food from local food vendors, listen to live music/entertainment provided by the Legendary JC's, receive eco-friendly giveaways like a beautiful, free native tree to plant at home, and much more!

If you would like to be involved with the city’s beautification and environmental clean-up efforts, please sign up for one or more Earth Day Month of Service activities on the city’s website for a chance to volunteer and make a difference. Please call us if you have additional questions (we have it on good authority that they're giving their volunteers 4 Rivers BBQ for free this Saturday).

  • 12:15 p.m. Cardboard Robot Parade with stars from Dog Powered Robot Labs

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
AJM Environmental and Evolving Landscapes presents “Wreath Making with Tillandsias”

 Demonstration with Horticulturalist Amanda Martin. Evolving Landscapes specializes in the design and construction of unique, high-quality, environmentally sensitive landscapes. Amanda Martin will be teaching participants how to make breathtaking, living wreaths using air plants. The first plant and wreath are free for workshop participants, and you will have the opportunity to purchase more.

12:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
KWPB presents “Hook Kids on Fishing” with Captain Smith of Anglers for Conservation
Children and young adults can come learn how to fish from expert anglers, and learn some tricks of the trade. All participants will leave with the knowledge of how to safely catch their own food along with their very own rod and tackle box!

1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Winter Park Blooms presents: “Blooming Container Planting”
Demonstration by Stephen and Kristin Pategas of Hortus Oasis.
