Lake Eola Park Welcomes New Baby Swans

Lake Eola Park has seven new residents.  On Wednesday, April 24 seven new baby swans were hatched.  Young swans are known as cygnets.  Another 15 or so cygnets are expected to hatch over the next few months at the park.  The swans nested in the park and the cygnets were hatched in a small protected nest along the shoreline of the lake.

There are five species of swans found in the downtown park.  The swans, now a icon of downtown, have called a number of downtown lakes home since the early 1900s.

Make sure to follow the swans via their very own Twitter account.
