Update 11:57pm The thread visible to the public on Facebook we link to below was deleted.

Some changes may be coming to Rollins radio station WPRK thanks to the new General Manager Ron Shearer. These changes do not seem to be in step with what the station means to the community of Central Florida and the students of Rollins College. This has several employees, DJs and students upset. They've taken to Facebook to share the story directly with the WPRK fans.

According to one of the station's DJs, "...the new GM of WPRK wants to take away all DJs and make it fully automated. He wants WPRK to be a commercial station classroom in the future, having business hours."

The DJ quotes an unnamed source with more Shearer plans:
"He does not want WPRK to continue to be a Independant Underground Station... He told me that WPRK has no real listeners and that it needed to move to a more commercial station with news sports etc... and he kept saying WPRK will no longer be a 24hr Jukebox!"
A station eomployee, says "He's already stripped the student directors of our powers. He's a madman." She goes on to say, "Its a complete coup. Students are not allowed to make any decisions at WPRK as of this past month. Most of the staff resigned."

They've reached out to local media for help. Also, a Facebook group has been set up to support the station.

More as the story develops.
