What Is the Orlando Fringe Festival?
The Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival is an annual event that brings over 100 theatrical productions to one location and packs the performances into ten days. You can stay at Fringe for hours and run from show to show, seeing a varied assortment of theatre, comedy, music and dance. Its a great way to pack a lot of entertainment into a short amount of time.
When and Where?
Dates: May 15-28, 2013
Location: Loch Haven Park
Expert Tips:
1. Listen to Word of Mouth. There are over 100 shows. Some are utter crap. Some are gems. Pay attention to word of mouth to avoid the crap shows and get the gems.
2. Fringe is expensive. Tickets can cost up to $10 per show PLUS a surcharge per ticket ($1.25 online, $1.00 in-person PER TICKET). There is no surcharge on donation-only + free + non-ticketed shows. If a show listed below offers a discount, you can only get that discount if you buy your ticket in person at the Box Office
3. Buy tickets in three places:
- Click on "BUY TICKETS" link next to each show listed below
- Orlando Shakespeare Theater ticket booth
- Orlando Rep ticket booth
4. You must buy one $9 button. To see any show (except at Kids Fringe), you must have on your person the official Orlando Fringe button. It costs $9 and is only available at the festival at the ticket booth and the information desk. They will not let you into shows without this button even if you have waited in line with a paid ticket. They don't play.
5. No late entrance. If you are late to a show, they will not let you in. Even if you bought a ticket. They don't play. Note: 12am means "midnight on the day listed."
6. Parking is a big fat nasty hassle. Arrive early.
