Transformers Building at Universal Orlando 'Transforms' From Dirt Before Your Eyes In New Time-Lapse Video

By Ken Storey

The new Transformers 3-D ride at Universal Studios was the E-ticket ride that surprised everyone.

The 4.5 minute ride takes rides, who are wearing special 3-D glasses, through the two story attraction building in special 12 passenger cars using a similar ride system to that of Spider-Man.  Along the ride guests will encounter both live action and 3-D screens, some being 60ft tall, that will tell the story of an epic battle between the Autobot and the Decepitcons.  The attraction is unique in its smaller footprint due to a veiled elevator that the ride vehicle uses while a cylindrical movie screen distracts guests.

The most surprising part of the ride though isn’t the technology used in it, or even its really unique marketing, but the time it took to build it.  In less than 12 months it went from just a rumor to an almost opened attraction with official opening being on June 20, 2013.  The less than 12 month construction timeline makes Transformers the fastest attraction to ever be built and opened at Universal Orlando.  This cool time-lapse video released by Universal Orlando shows just how quickly this ride really went up.  Make sure to pause it at around the :07 mark to see a unique view of the rides path.
