The Transportation Security Administration has been using social media since 2008, when it launched The TSA Blog, as a way to show what the group is all about. The blog features a popular weekly roundup of confiscated items which you can now also view on the TSA Blog Team Instagram account.
Launched on June 28, 2013 with little fanfare, the account received little notice until Jimmy Kimmel shared pictures from it on his show a week later. That mention got the account an immediate 37,000 followers.
