Universal Orlando Construction Update: Kang & Kodos Marquee + Jurassic Park Games + Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Diagon Alley
Universal Orlando has been a hotbed of activity this summer, thanks to the recent debut of the Transformers ride and new Simpsons-themed dining options. But that isn't the end of construction at Walt Disney World's biggest competitors, as work on a number of other major new additions are are in full swing.
To start, here is an exclusive first look at the marquee for Kang & Kodos' Twirl 'n' Hurl, a Dumbo-style spinning kiddie ride being installed along the waterfront across from The Simpsons Ride in Universal Studios Florida.
Next, here is a sneak peek at demolition work underway in the former (and seldom-used) extended queue for Jurassic Park River Adventure in Islands of Adventure. This area will be repurposed as a home for new carnival games being custom designed by Bob's Space Racers for the park. This is the first phase of a major renovation of Jurassic Park, tied to a fourth film in the franchise scheduled for release in 2015.
Finally here is a look at drywall being installed on the London waterfront facade in USF, which will conceal the Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Diagon Alley (opening Summer 2014).
