Habitat for Humanity of Winter Park-Maitland will break ground on its 50th house on Saturday, September 14 at 10:00 a.m. The lot where the house will be built is located at 813 W. New England Avenue in Winter Park.Habitat for Humanity of Winter Park-Maitland was born in November 1993 via vote to establish the affiliate. Included in that original vote were Hal George, Rollins College President Emeritus Thaddeus Seymour (current Chairman) and Jeff Briggs, Winter Park's current Director of Planning and Community Development. Recent major sponsors-that raise the funds to purchase the land and building materials and supply the majority of volunteers-include Trinity Preparatory School, the Stanchina Foundation, Rollins College, St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and All Saints Church.
