Barge-Topped Half-House May *Not* Sail Across Winter Park Lake During Boat Show After All!

The 9th Annual Winter Park Boat Parade & Festival of Lights and Ski Show will take place December 14, 2013 on Lakes Virginia and Osceola during which the historic and much talked about Capen-Showalter House MAY NOT float on top of a barge at the center of this procession around the lake.

Dammit!

A press release went out in October saying the house would float in the show. Now, according to the Orlando Sentinel, it may not happen after all. Says Debbie Komanski , Executive Director of the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture gardens (the spot the house will eventually be dropped):

“The timing of the move of the Capen House is really dependent on when it’s ready. Originally the thought was at least half of the house would be on the lake during the boat parade, but in all honesty, once the house is ready to move, it’s moving. If that happens to be before the 14th, then it will move before the 14th.”

No reason to go to the boat show, now! #FloatThatHouse
