On November 24th, the Urban Think Foundation will be holding its monthly Super Joy Riders: Do Gooder Bike Ride at 10am. Super Joy Riders is an Urban Think Foundation community event, occurring monthly by inviting an eclectic mix of cyclists, do-gooders, and super hero nerds to go out into the community, to do mass acts of charity and good will. Participants will dress as superheroes and ride en masse around the city as they check off their scavenger hunt-like list of Do-Gooder Duties; collect litter, help senior citizens to cross the road, return shopping carts, or any sort of small act of kindness as a team in an hour and a half of hilarity and love.
“The Super Joy Riders: Do Gooder Bike Ride is an exercise in
community organizing that focuses on small acts of kindness. We hope to use the
ride as an opportunity to show how helping people can be simple, fun, and easy,
especially while wearing a cape.” – Brendan O’Connor, Program Director and Ride
Coordinator.
All riders are asked to rally at the boat launch at Lake Ivanhoe in Gaston Edwards Park, in
Ivanhoe Village wearing costumes, and ready to Do Good. Look for other
awesome heroes and the SJR signs. This
month we are asking for participants to bring some canned/nonperishable foods
that we will in turn drop off at Ferncreek Elementary for their food pantry
(96% of students there are on assisted lunch).
The Super Joy Riders is a
collaborative effort by the creative minds behind Banana Hammock Republic, Dog
Powered Robot, and the Urban Think Foundation.
