Arctic Monkeys’ latest album ‘AM’ has been absent from many of the big end-of-year lists, which is a great pity, as it’s arguably the band’s finest to date. Despite not winning over the critics like they used to, the band has been playing enormous shows all year – including a headlining slot at Glastonbury in June. ‘AM’ seems designed specifically to be seen live: songs like ‘Arabella’ and ‘Snap Out Of It’ deliver big guitars and choruses, while you’ll want to get the lighters ready during ‘No. 1 Party Anthem’. Oh, and don’t forget the band’s older stuff – from the bratty early days through the hanging-out-with-Josh-Homme-in-the-desert era, this is a band that justifies the phrase “greatest hits”. They play aircraft hangar-sized venues across the Pond, so don’t miss this chance to see them relatively close.
