Ron Legler, current President/CEO of Florida Theatrical Association, has been named interim Executive Director of the Orlando Ballet.
“I’m very honored to join the family at the Orlando Ballet,” says Legler. “It is an incredible organization with strong roots in the Central Florida community, and I’m excited about the opportunity to be part of the future the Ballet as they approach their 40th anniversary.”
Legler will be tasked to help strengthen and advise the organization as it prepares to search for a permanent executive director. Legler will review the current operations, marketing, fundraising and sponsorship procedures to establish best practices moving forward. With 25 years of expertise in non-profit management, Legler is poised to lead the Ballet after a tumultuous year transitioning out of their home in Lake Ivanhoe.
“I’ve decided to volunteer my time because it is a crucial moment for the Orlando Ballet and I hope that I can leverage the many relationships I’ve established throughout my time in Orlando to help keep the Ballet on track,” Legler said.
"We think this is a wonderful opportunity for us. We can benefit from his expertise," says Ava Doppelt, President of the Orlando Ballet’s Board of Directors. "He has great enthusiasm for all the culture in this city, he knows a lot of people, he brings a lot of experience."
In addition to his work with Florida Theatrical Association presenting touring Broadway shows in Orlando, Legler is also co-owner of two downtown entertainment venues, The Abbey and The MEZZ. He has also recently been named a “Most Influential Businessman” by the Orlando Business Journal and the Downtown Orlando Partnership’s “Downtowner of the Year.” He has also served on the boards of the Downtown Arts District, the Orlando International Fringe Festival and the Mayor-appointed See Art Orlando.
