Hispanic Office for Local Assistance (HOLA) and the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration (PRFAA) Announce Partnership
On Wednesday, June 17, 2015, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 2 City Commissioner Tony Ortiz announced a partnership between the Hispanic Office for Local Assistance (HOLA) and the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration (PRFAA).The partnership will provide an expansion of the PRFAA into Orlando to meet the needs of the growing Puerto Rican community, the largest Hispanic community in Central Florida, by offering a centralized location at the HOLA office with a representative from the PRFAA to provide services on site once a month to City residents.
According to the U.S. Census, 300,000 Puerto Ricans live in Central Florida and 35,000 in the city. Puerto Rican families are choosing Orlando as their new home because the economic and educational opportunities the city offers to them, combined with a variety of affordable and world-class amenities for everyone that make our city a community where quality of life is second to none. Due to the continuous immigration of Puerto Ricans to Central Florida, the City has identified that Puerto Rican residents have the need to obtain services that will be linked to transactions needed to be executed between government agencies in Puerto Rico and PRFAA office. Since its inception in 2004, the HOLA office has offered bilingual services and referrals to more than 150,000 residents from the multicultural community. Thanks to more than 150 community partners, such as the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration, HOLA has helped our residents fulfill their needs by providing guidance and referrals to local public agencies, organizations and businesses.
