Florida Bookstore Day at Bookmark It

Bookmark It is excited to celebrate the second annual Florida Bookstore Day by celebrating not one, not two, but THREE book launch parties for talented, award-winning Central Florida authors.

First up, from 11:00am - 1:00 pm join local illustrator, Lake Highland Preparatory Teacher-of-the-Year, and now AUTHOR Robbie Lee for a special hands-on Book Launch Party complete with mini-sketching lessons! His new book, “Perspectives Made Easy, (Impact 2015)” is designed to teach readers of all skill levels how to draw the world around them. As a VERY local Audubon Park family, the Lee’s invite you to head upstairs to the APEX meeting hall in the East End Market for a delicious assortment of treats courtesy of La Femme du Fromage and Bikes, Beans and Bordeaux, our tasty Audubon Park Garden District neighbors.

Then hop in your car and head out to the charming Windermere Public Library for Christina Farley’s release of “Brazen” the third book in her popular (and award-winning) YA reader - Gilded Series. Fans will be excited to follow the adventures of 16 year old Jae Hwa Lee as she calls upon love, honor, trust and courage to help save the Korean land she’s come to call home. Budding authors will be particularly interested in attending her 1:00pm-3:00pm Book Launch Party as in addition to reading from her new book, Christina will be leading a discussion about creating a book series. Prizes, book signing and of course, cake (!) round out the fun !

Then finally, join us at the John & Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center at 7pm for Functionally Literate. That evening the popular reading series welcomes acclaimed literary author, and Gainesville resident, Padgett Powell for the Florida release of his new short story collection, “Cries for Help, Various.” Rounding out the evening’s performances will be local writer Rebecca Evenhoe and Orlando’s own singer/songwriter Beth McKee.

Registration is requested but not mandatory for each event. For more information go to:
