The US Department of Transportation also has a new plan for ITS which includes two key factors:
1. Connected Vehicles:
A new federal transportation bill is being drafted by Congress to replace MAP-21 and it is expected to include funding for pilot projects. Congressman Mica called this opportunity to MetroPlan Orlando's attention and offered to help the office get federal discretionary funds to conduct one or more pilot projects.
2. Automation:
This Intelligent Transportation System master plan will "serve as the basis for making prudent investment decisions with federal, state and Local funds" for MetroPlan Orlando.
