In 2011, we told you Zipcar (Website) came to UCF. The car share company also opened locations in Lake Buena Vista, Winter Park, Rollins College and Orlando International Airport.
In 2013, another cardshare service came to Orlando, but only in the downtown corridor. Called Hertz24/7, cars were placed at the following locations:
- Ivanhoe Village District on N. Orange Avenue, just south of E. New Hampshire Street
- S. Orange Avenue, just north of E. Amelia Street
- N. Eola Drive, just south of Washington Street
- Broadway Avenue, just north of Robinson Street
- Eola Drive, just south of Central Boulevard
- Parking Lot #10 under I-4, at Central Boulevard and Hughey Avenue
- Florida Hospital-Orlando
- Alexander Place (site of the future Creative Village)
- CNL Parking Garage behind City Hall
In July 2015, Hertz announced its intention to end its carsharing service in the United States, so Hertz24/7 stopped Orlando service on September 12, 2015.
Starting Wednesday February 3, 2016, Zipcar will have 6 spots in downtown Orlando:
- Ivanhoe Village District, on North Orange Avenue, south of East New Hampshire Street
- Orange County Courthouse, on South Orange Avenue, north of East Amelia Street
- Lake Eola, on Broadway Avenue at Robinson Street
- Lake Eola, on North Eola Drive, south of Washington Street
- Thornton Park, on South Eola Drive, south of Central Boulevard
- City Hall/CNL Garage, off Boone Avenue
