Cady Way Trailhead Pavilion and Fox Street Extension Coming to Orlando Fashion Square

Orlando Fashion Square is adding 2.42 acres to its 78.7 acre property for the following:
  1. Cady Way Trailhead improvements - pavilion and stormwater retention to help offset the removal of the current retention pond. 
  2. Fox Street Extension - The master plan proposal shows the extension of Fox Street to Bennett Road. The Fox Street extension will improve the local road network. The mall wants to give the Fox Street right-of-way to the City. ±0.31 acres 
  3. Apartments and Multi Family Units - ±2.11 acres

WHAT'S A DRI?
Fashion Square Mall is a Development of Regional Impact, otherwise known as a DRI. It was originally approved by City Council in July 1991. 

A Development of Regional Impact is a development of regional impact (DRI) is a large-scale development which affects more than one county; sometimes many jurisdictions. Criteria which determine whether or not a project is of DRI scale are set by the State of Florida. They include a list of DRI thresholds. 

DRI categories include:

  2. Attractions
  3. Hotels
  4. Industrial plants and parks
  5. Commercial developments 
  6. Residential developments
  7. Multi- or mixed-use projects
