Retail Entrepreneur Incubator Idea Shelved til 2017

SODO Executive Director Sarah Elbadri brought an progressive idea to the SODO board last month: a store-front incubator space for local entrepreneurs. The 1,300 sq ft space would be inside SODO Plaza and be shared with SODO Main Street and Downtown South NID offices.

Projects like this bring attention to the area in which they're placed as well as give small retail businesses a chance to see what it's like to commit to a bricks and mortar storefront.

Board Member Harlan Hanson recommended that the Main Street program bring this office plan to the next NID meeting since this idea is still forming and requires multiple partners. We reached out to Elbadri and she says the idea is on hold until 2017.

We of course love the idea of the entrepreneur incubator. We put on our last pop up shop in the SODO plaza and showcased 30 local makers for 5 days. Photos below.
