New "Central Park" Coming to Downtown

A new public park currently known as "Central Park" is coming to downtown as part of the 68-acre Creative Village project according to the PD Amendment.

Central Park is one of three parks within the project:
  1. Central Park - This park is centrally located in the middle of the project. It's bound on two sides by retail spaces, one side by W Amelia and another by non-retail development.
  2. Gateway Park - This park is a pedestrian sidewalk connecting the UCF campus with a parking garage.
  3. Quad Park - This park is a rectangle surrounded by UCF campus buildings and crisscrossed by long sidewalks .
The Creative Village property is located at 600 W Amelia St. (south of E. Colonial Dr., east of Parramore Ave., north of Robinson St., and west of Hughey Ave).

The Creative Village project has submitted a Request for a Planned Development amendment to address updates and revisions in the development plan and program including street layout and alignment, lot configurations, and the Bob Carr site.

The only mention of the Bob Carr site in the documents submitted to the Municipal Planning Board states that the building is available for adaptive re-use per Orlando historic landmark designation.

About 3/5 of the development will be mixed-use in nature. The other segments are residential and educational and open space made up of the park areas shared above.
