Green Umbrella Co-Op in Winter Park Houses Displaced Artegon Artists

After so many artists were displaced during the closing of the Artegon, Shannon “Bunny” Youngs formed a co-op.  The Co-Op would get 40% of all website and gallery sales. A yearly subscription is $300, which could be made in four $75 monthly payments) is required. Membership is free for the first year for displaced Artegon artists.

More info: Shannon “Bunny” Youngs, DynamoVoltage@gmail.com, 561-503-9470.

Her mission is to provide artists with the following:

  1. Physical gallery space that rotates art monthly at 1280 Palmetto Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32789).
  2. Online gallery store on which artists can list their entire catalog that isn't on view at the gallery
  3. Free/discounted event spaces: Free booth space once a month at the Second Sunday Food Truck Bazaar on Colonial Drive. Other events where artists can sell/promote are being explored. Green Gallery does not take a percentage of sales at these events.
  4. Advertising/marketing
  5. Membership to the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce
  6. Paints and supplies at 50% off retail price. Any orders for supplies would be taken once a month, unless size of orders warrants more frequent ordering. A product list will be available, and if there is something the artists want that is not on that list, other product inquiries can be about getting the desired items.
  7.  Email notifications of when fresh vegetables/herbs/fruit are available for free (first come, first serve). We have all edible landscaping and hopefully this will allow starving artists to be less starving.

Since membership for Artegon artists are free for the first year, it would be greatly appreciated if those with free membership help by volunteering. This would reduce the operation costs of the co-op. Volunteer opportunities include (but are not limited to), working as a gallery attendant, distributing flyers at predetermined locations, farming our small edible landscaping garden, providing drawings for future projects/events (for press releases and city approvals on future projects/events), donating artwork for charity fund raisers, and more.

The Green Gallery will be located in the back room of the new location “The Green Umbrella” at 1280 Palmetto Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32789, less than a ¼ mile from Park Avenue and Rollins College. Many Artegon vendors are relocating to The Green Umbrella, such as Peru Arts (formerly Alipaza Arts) and Winter Park Honey (a.k.a. Wild Florida Honey). The Green Umbrella was to be named “The World Bazaar”, but after the vendors were in place, it was realized most were green and sustainable living vendors. So the The Green Umbrella will feature a showroom that focuses on the 7 layers of permaculture and sustainable living/farming/gardening. The showroom will feature Winter Park Honey; Peru Arts (made from alpaca fur); Permacube; Azomite Rock Dust; Weed Recede; Boogie Brew water filters and soil amendments; Crown Bees (solitary bee houses and supplies); and more! The outdoor landscaping will be completely edible food forest that will feature the 7 layers of permaculture farming method. This method mimics the 7 categories/layers of a forest, but substitutes edible plants in all of the different categories/layers.The goal of The Green Umbrella is to sell ready-to-use outdoor classroom/gardening spaces for k-12 schools and senior living facilities, although units and components of the units can be sold separately. The 1280 Palmetto Avenue location will serve as a showroom to display all of the components of the outdoor classrooms/gardening spaces and to demonstrate the products’ use.
