9 Things to do this Saturday April 1 2017

Mills50 Madcap The second annual Mills 50 Madcap takes place on Saturday, April 1! Madcap is sort of like a scavenger hunt - sort of like a pub crawl - but mostly like a party! Individual participants and teams gather at The Brass Tap - Mills Park at noon to receive instructions and clues. Participants will go to various locations and solve puzzles and complete tasks before moving on to the next location. After finishing, everyone will gather at Ten 10 Brewing Company for a party, where prizes will be awarded for Best Team Costume and Best Team! Every participant receives a free goody bag filled with items from Mills 50 businesses! $20 per person.

Rabbit or Jackelope Taxidermy Class (Each student will leave class with a fully finished piece, and the knowledge to create their own pieces in the future. It is recommended students bring a bag or box to transport their pieces.) This class is designed for beginners to learn professional level techniques used in small mammal taxidermy. By focusing on the facial features, students will create a rabbit or jackalope shoulder mount that can be affixed to a plaque or hung as is. Students will learn proper skinning and fleshing procedures, how to split, turn and position facial features, including the ears, proper preservation techniques, grooming, and the traditional methods of sculpting and carving a bust to create a shoulder mount form. Students can choose to create a natural display, or create a jackalope/hybrid creature using antler pieces, or sculpting their own. As always, students are also welcome to bring their own props or accessories if desired.
