After 45 Years LYNX Will Start Telling You Where Your Bus Is

Orlando bus riders with smart phones will no longer have to wonder about their bus's arrival time and location. The Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority, otherwise known as LYNX, announced today the launch of a new system-wide real-time app called LYNX Bus Tracker AppBus Tracker app available in the iTunes App Store and Google Play. The app was designed by DoubleMap.

Customers using the new app will have the following advantages:
  1. See in real-time where their bus is
  2. Track their bus at each stop before it arrives
  3. View estimated arrival times by clicking on their stop
  4. Save their favorite stops and routes
  5. Receive service announcements.
Future projects currently being worked on include a way to pay bus fare on the phone and report incidents. Earlier this year the agency added Wi-Fi to all buses.

LYNX was founded in May 1972. It was known as the Orange Seminole Osceola Transportation Authority (OSOTA) back then. It became Tri-County Transit in 1984 then LYNX in 1992 then Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority in March 1994.
