The pawn shop building and neighboring building of the same size at the corner of Orange & Pineloch were under demolition November 2. They sit on an 11.69 acre site at 3135 S Orange Ave (MAP) that will soon house a mixed use development called Southside Shops. Over the past few months several mature oak trees, the 47-unit Whispering Palms Trailer Park, an auto body shop, Sodo's tiniest building which at one point was to become a Jeremiah's Italian Ice location have all been demolished for the project.
The development will feature 94,000 sq. ft. of retail and office space to include a Luckys Market, a 300 unit multi-family apartment complex and a parking lot for the multi-family building.
