When first announced, the Orlando to Miami leg of All Aboard Florida's train service called Brightline was to begin construction in 2020. That date has been moved forward to 2021 according to Sun Sentinel.
16 times a day, Orlandoans will be enjoying a 3-hour train ride to Miami traveling 79 miles per hour thanks to Brightline according to the Miami Herald. Amtrak takes 5.5 to 7.5 hours for the same trip. The Orlando to Miami is Phase 2 of the whole Brightline project.
When service begins from Miami to Orlando, Orlando locals will board the train at Orlando International Airport’s future South Intermodal Center.
When first announced in 2015, the interior amenities included the following:
- Coffee and wine delivered to your seat
- Train café car with food and drink options, wine and local beers, a retail store, souvenirs and entertainment
- free Wi-Fi
- smartly placed power outlets
- custom built leather seats with multiple seating configurations
- One quiet car and one social car within each tier
