There are onlythree four restaurants in Orlando that serve Impossible Foods' "bleeding" Impossible Burger and they're not any of our city's wonderful vegan or vegetarian restaurants. They're vegan-friendly spots! All three locations of the restaurant chain Toasted serve the Impossible Burger according to Impossible Foods' website. Our wonderful readers informed us (and we confirmed it) that The Edison restaurant at Disney Springs serve it as well.
The product has been described as "bleeding" because it uses Heme, a basic building block of life on Earth. It's a molecule found in plant roots and is uniquely abundant in meat. That's what gives meat that meat smell, sizzle, bleed, and taste. They use the root version in their burger which makes it "bleed" and taste like real meat.
Right now, the Impossible Burger isn't available in grocery stores anywhere and you can't buy it online.
A restaurant in Chicago uses the meat to make vegan tacos. See photo below.
At a press briefing in 2017 Stanford biochemist Patrick Brown, Impossible Foods’ founder and CEO said “We want to completely replace animals as a food production technology by 2035,” according to Mercury News.
From the website: "Our dedicated team of top scientists, farmers and chefs spent the last five years studying it from cow to bun. Then we identified methods and ingredients to naturally recreate everything -- the sights, sounds, aromas, textures and flavors."
