According to the Orlando Bike Coalition a two mile multi-use pathway is coming to Kirkman Road from Raleigh Street to LB McLeod Road. This will connect apartment dwellers, Valencia West college students and area businesses. It will also connect to a trail that takes cyclists all the way to Kissimmee: the Shingle Creek Trail at Eagle Nest Park.
Multi-use pathways, according to North Carolina Department of Transportation, include "adequate width for two-directional use by both cyclists and pedestrians, provision of good sight distance, avoidance of steep grades and tight curves that force bicyclists to make awkward movements, and minimal cross-flow by motor vehicles."
NCDOT says "It is generally not advisable to locate a two-way bicycle path immediately adjacent to a roadway because of confusion at driveways and intersections."
No construction date is known at this time.
