A poetic fantasy filled with theatrical delight is what Mad Cow Theatre offers in its newest production Life is a Dream opening Feb 14 in our intimate Stage Right. This timeless play, written by the "Shakespeare of Spain", Pedro Calderón de la Barca, presents questions of nature vs nurture, the divine right of kings and love in all of its many forms.
Life is a Dream tells the tale of the infant Prince Segismundo, hidden away by his father, the King of Poland, after a prophecy that he will become a cruel and tyrannical ruler. Hidden from civilization he is eventually discovered by a young noblewoman.
Life is a Dream is directed by Mad Cow Theatre Artistic Director Alan Bruun and features: Bobbie Bell, Jamie Cline, Sara Jane Fridlich, Elena Day, Michelle Krause, Stephen Lima and Leander Suleiman. Costumes by Nicole Bartet, props by Mickey DeJesus and lighting by John Hemphill, Jr.
Life is a Dream runs from Feb 14 through Mar 9, 2008. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00p and Sundays at 3:00p with a special pay-what-you-wish performance on Mar 5 at 8:00p. You may purchase tickets by calling the box office at 407.297.8788 or online.
