(***UPDATE: SEE BELOW) Through the Mainstreet program, the City of Orlando is offering business district revitalization support to neighborhood commercial districts.
Districts are chosen using a competitive selection process. Each district receives financial and technical assistance and intensive training in the Main Street approach from Orlando Main Street and the National Main Street Center. In turn, each Main Street organization hires a full time Executive Director, raises matching funds, incorporates its organization and implements its programs according to an annual work plan.
Attend the mix and mingle event Tuesday, June 24th, 2008, 5:30pm at Say It Loud (Orange Building on Mills), 1221 N Mills Ave.
Light appetizers donated by local restaurants and wine donated from Funky Monkey will be served. Acoustic music and raffle prizes available. $5 Requested Donation.

Actually this meetup is for the MillsFifty Mainstreet program. We are applying the Mainstreet program to the Mills corridor beginning just south of the Colonial and Mills intersection (hence the name MillsFifty) and extending down Mills past Virgnia. It is hoped to create a unified identity for this diverse business neighborhood that includes Asian restaurants, design studios, bars, schools, tea shops, and way too many to list and do a service here.
This is big opportunity for businesses and residents to give a real boost economically to the area and well as to let Greater Orlando know what a great area it is.
It is a fundraiser and donations [and memberships] are being accepted.
