On Saturday, August 30th at 2pm, the grassroots group, Patriots for Peace, will lead a nonpartisan march from Front Street Park (2205 S. Front Street, Melbourne, FL 32935) to Melbourne City Hall (900 E. Strawbridge Ave., Melbourne, FL 32901) to "demand Democrats and Republicans halt build-up for war against Iran." RSVP: sabletide@yahoo.com
The groups hopes "to raise awareness about the bipartisan bill, House Concurrent Resolution 362 (article), which seeks deadly sanctions and a blockade against Iran; new details of the U.S.’s secret war on Iran as reported by Seymour Hersh in the New Yorker; and the fact that Iran, according to the U.S. National Intelligence Estimate, does not posses a nuclear weapon."
The August 30th march will be fashioned after Patriots for Peace’s February 15, 2003 protest against the looming war with Iraq. Local media reported that between 400 and 500 people of all political stripes participated in the 2003 march. (Source)
