Fifty pieces of art by children with Cancer will be up for sale, along with works by 20 local artists at "Open Up Your heART Show," August 30, 2008, 7-10pm, at The Gallery at Avalon Island, downtown Orlando.
50% of the local artists' profits and 100% of the children with Cancers' profits will benefit BASE Camp Children's Cancer Foundation, a year-round base of support for children and families who are facing the challenge of living with cancer and other life-threatening hematological illnesses. Their programs focus on "being normal" by participating in peer groups which children who are not affected by life-challenging illnesses. They provide weekly hospital-lunch delivery, monthly overnight camps, parent-support groups, clinic parties, and weekly events that help children pass through the toughest days of treatment.
