Orlando dancer and teacher Kip Watson was honored for his sixty-three years of contributing to the art of dance with the Central Florida Dance Award during Thursday night's “Sculpted Bodies," a UCF dance concert. The show runs through Sunday and plays at Orlando Rep.
Watson’s influence on dance in Central Florida dates back to 1968 when he founded the School of Performing Arts, Orlando’s first paid professional dance company. Watson later founded what would become the Orlando Ballet and helped form the Florida Dance Association. Today, Watson co-directs Harwood-Watson Dance Studios, a dance school he created with wife and fellow dancer Eliza Harwood-Watson in 1985. (Photo Credit: Orlando Sentinel)
