2009 Summer Institute
Special Opportunity for Artists in Education
July 22-24 -- Orlando
This three-day arts integration Institute for artists/arts organizations working in schools and after-school programs and for school teams comprised of administrators, classroom teachers, and arts teachers, will ignite your passion for building strong schools and communities Through the ARTS. Sessions will demonstrate the “why” and “how” of working in educational settings and will assist artists in understanding school culture, “educationese,” and standards-based education. The Institute will offer successful strategies and materials for making excellence Through the ARTS a reality in schools. Artists in Education materials and models will be discussed and evaluated. Artist participants are encouraged to bring materials they have or are using; analysis of “what works” (and why it does!) will be provided.
A display table will be available for artists and arts organizations to share their educational programs and materials. Time for networking will be provided. This is a great way to become known to educators interested in enhancing their programs through increased involvement with community artists and arts organizations.
The 2009 Summer Institute is offered by Mary Palmer & Associates, LLC. In collaboration with the UCF-Orlando Shakespeare Theatre.
