The 34-story 55 West building in downtown Orlando is scheduled to be sold in a court-ordered foreclosure auction on Oct. 16. I just spoke with a sales person a couple weeks ago and she said they went from condos to rentals because of the economy. You have to see the lobby! Its one of the rare designed spaces in Orlando. She toured me around three apartment units and said its a struggle to convince Orlandoans to embrace the loft-like layout of these units. They're very open and airy, sometimes without walls between bedroom and living room. One of their promo ideas was unique. She said they were partnering with Third Thursdays and were actually going to show art in empty unit during the monthly event.
