The Osceola Center for the Arts presented its Annual Juried Art Show on May 4, 2010. With the help of guest judge Chuck Dinkins, Director of the Seminole Arts Council, The Center handed out $800 in prize money. This year’s Best of Show winner is Carolyn Davis of St. Cloud, Florida for her clay sculpture called ‘Totems’. First Place in Painting, Rob Kaz of Celebration, FL; Drawing & Graphics, Brandon Loetz of Windermere, FL; Sculpture, Ana Caravias of Orlando, FL; Mixed Media, Lauren Steiert of Harmony; and Photography, Scarlett Mann of St. Cloud.
“Every year this event grows in talent and numbers and this year is no exception. Over half of this year’s 65 artists are from Osceola County and other Artists came from as far as Jacksonville, St. Petersburg and even Las Vegas, NV to compete for the $300 top prize and one of 5-$100 1st prizes,” says Jules Davidson, Director of Visual Arts, adding that “This is one of my favorite shows of the year, not only for the number of participants but because it showcases all levels of talent and allows them all to shine.”
Also on display in May, are pieces created by children and adult students of The Center’s art classes, which include drawings, paintings, ceramics and stained glass. “Louise Hallauer, Michelle Coulter and Carolyn Davis are all very talented artists themselves and the work of their students is very impressive!” says Davidson.
The 2010 Juried Art Show will remain on display through May 25, 2010 and is free and open to the public. The Center is open Monday thru Friday from 9am until 5pm and is located at 2411 E. Irlo Bronson Hwy., Kissimmee, FL 34744. Visit www.ocfta.com or call 407-846-6257 x0 for more information.
