Florida Association of Museums Foundation in collaboration with Massey Communications presents "Social Media in Museums and Cultural Organizations," a workshop. Download Application
Where: Orlando Science Center
When: Friday June 4, 2010, 10:00 am Registration, 10:30 am – 2:30 pm Workshop. Advance Registration Required
About: Everyone is experimenting with social media, or so it seems. How do you develop a socialmedia program? Do you just “start” by doing “something” on Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, a Wordpress blog, or something else? Should you develop a plan? What level of expertise do you need in order to be effective?
Join Sultana Ali from Massey Communications to learn how to get started, how to expand existing activities, how to integrate social media in brand development, as well as the important components of a social media campaign. WiFi will be available on site, so you’re encouraged to bring your laptop and/or cell phone to experiment while the expert is on site!
Who should attend: Staff and volunteers from museums, visual and performing arts organizations, libraries, archives, archaeological sites, zoos, or other collecting institutions that are new to or interested in improving their social media practices. The Orlando Science Center offers complimentary parking for workshop participants and invites you to visit exhibitions after the workshop.
Speaker: Sultana Ali, Account Executive at Massey Communications, has professional experience in public relations, marketing, and technical writing. With her clients, she develops social media campaigns and teaches the effective uses of social media. Sultana has been honored with a Global Young Advocate Award from United Nations Association-USA, the Central Florida Women's Resource Center Junior Summit Award, the Girl Scout Council of Central Florida's Young
Woman of Distinction and was named one of Central Florida's "13 Shining Stars" by Central Florida News 13 and the American Red Cross. She also received the agency's Todd Persons Award. Recently, she was named as a Finalist for the eWomenNetwork Foundation’s Emerging Leader of the Year Award.
