Voter Feedback: 3rd Annual TheDailyCity.com Audience Choice Awards 2011

Voter Feedback 2011
We asked the voters in the 3rd Annual 2011 TheDailyCity.com Audience Choice Awards for their votes and also their feedback on the awards themselves. Some of their answers (and our responses) are below. If you have feedback, please share it in the comments on this post.

Have a page in the Fringe program that lets audience members know where to vote.
Great idea. That costs money though.

Drop down menus for more categories (Best Musical, Best Play, etc.)
Thats a *lot* of work. Perhaps if we get Volunteers or Interns.

More publicity? Give productions the option to run a pre-designed ad for the awards in their program.
Great idea. We can do this.

Make it available at the show to vote
We like this idea. How would we implement this?

Maybe the only thing for next year would be a place in the Shakes lobby where people could vote while they're right there. (I know this was done in the past with paper balloting, not sure if a laptop at a table would be okay. Just a thought.)
We love this idea

Add a "Best Branding/Poster" category so the digital artists involved can feel like a part of Fringe. I had three posters in Fringe this year, and I worked very hard!
In 2008 I'm fairly sure I added this to The Fabbys when I was working for Fringe, and awarded it to Dewey Chaffee's marketing work that year. It was called "Best Marketing" or something.

Add Best Stage Manager
This is a great idea. We already have 28 awards.

More notification ahead of time. We are all crazy busy.
Program ads cost money. Signage at The Green can be missed. What else can we do?

By smartphone app!
Good idea. Anyone want to do this for free?

Add Best Dance, Best Band, Best Art Work in the Patrons room, Best Solo Performance, Best Poem, and who knows... Best Smart Ass, Best Drunken Performance, oh and definitely Best Interpretation of a "Speak & Spell". You can even give out The Golden Speak & Spell!
These are what The Fabbys do. We already do best dance, musician, solo.

It's hard to vote on Best Director and things like that when it's not listed on the Fringe website and you have to hunt for it. Also, I'm going to see a show on Monday, but that's after the voting period ends, so I can't list it.
When we get our Volunteer or Intern to do this, we'll take care of it.

Have the voting close after Fringe is over. There's a show my friend is seeing on Monday.
It concludes as close to the end of Fringe as humanly possible. We have to give them out at 10pm Sunday night because that's when The Fabbys occur.

more unique awards
Thats for The Fabbys

Add these categories: Best Original Music, Best Sound Design, Best Original Script
We took out "original" this year because of feedback from last year telling us most voters didn't know which pieces were original and which weren't. But this could be solved with the Volunteer or Intern who goes through the program and creating the drop-down list for each category.

Include Corky's Hotdogs - the hot vendor near the shakespeare entrance with the hat - isn't this his 2nd year?
We went by the list provided to us by Orlando Fringe.

Have a drop down list for ALL questions. Which shows are national?! No one is going to figure that out! Only their dearest friends know.
Point taken. Intern/Volunteer needed.

I like the drop down menus. My Monster was very funny, but it had a dramatic powerful story. I wasn't sure which category it should go in. I guess if that could be pre-determined, and then each category could have a drop down menu. Also, that would help prevent mis-spellings, which could invalidate a vote.
No mis-spellings will invalidate a vote.

Don't inquire about income. It's really none of your business.
We don't give a crap what you make. Advertisers do. And we need advertisers are what pay the bills here.
