Friends of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra Announce Slew of Fundraising Events

The Friends of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, volunteer corps of the Orlando Philharmonic, announce a series of special fundraising events to be held throughout the season. These events, which have become a popular tradition for Philharmonic friends and patrons, feature a variety of programs to complement the many wonderful musical offerings by the Philharmonic. From a grand opening dinner to an evening of jeans and jewels, the Friends’ special events offer patrons many opportunities to join in the music and fun. Each of the events is highlighted with music performed by the musicians of the Philharmonic, and many feature informative discussions about the music and composers featured in the orchestra’s upcoming concert performances. All proceeds benefit the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra.

Opening Night Gala
Saturday, September 25, 2010 6:00 - 8:00 PM
Held at the Orlando Sheraton Downtown (across from the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre), 400 W. Livingston Street, Orlando.
Begin your Opening Night celebration of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra’s eighteenth season with music, cocktails, and dinner. Maestro Christopher Wilkins presents a special concert preview. Dinner guests are invited to an exclusive backstage reception following the concert.
Black Tie Optional; $125 per person

A Warm Welcome for the Orchestra’s new Concertmaster, Yuriy Bekker
Tuesday, October 26, 2010 7:00 PM.
Held at the home of Lynn and Chuck Steinmetz, Winter Park
Lynn and Chuck Steinmetz will host a special reception to welcome Yuriy to Orlando. This is a premier opportunity to meet the Orchestra’s new Concertmaster.
$125 per person

Friends Music Academy: “The Sounds of Music”
A new music appreciation course will begin in early January 2011, continuing for four sessions. The faculty for this exciting program includes Maestro Christopher Wilkins, principal horn Mark Fischer and local musicians. Space is limited. Friends’ Members have priority to enroll in the series.
