Nothing says spring better than baby animals. To celebrate it finally being spring (it officially started on Wednesday, March 20, 2013) here are a few pictures of new babies that were born over at Busch Gardens.
First we have a super cute albeit alien looking baby aardvark that was born on February 6, 2013. The aardvark is expected to grow quickly gaining over 120lbs in its first year alone.
Later in February the theme park welcomed two more babies with two Southern Ground Hornbills that were born on February 15 and 19, 2013. It's great to see these two baby Southern Ground Hornbills as the species is listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature due to the fact that none of the species can be found outside of national parks and reserves. Busch Gardens has been an active participant in helping to save the species. The SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund has helped support the Mabula Ground Hornbill Conservation & Research Project, which replenishes the declining ground hornbill population through a successful captive breeding, rearing and release program. You can see these and a ton more baby animals at Jambo Junction, located in the Nairobi area of the park.
