Heidi Dog Productions' “One Less Car Orlando: a celebration of transportation alternatives” is September 25, 10am - 4pm at the Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Community Center (946 N. Mills Ave., Orlando). Its described as "a grassroots event to make residents aware of the benefits – both health and environmental – of driving their car a little less." Admission is free.
One Less Car Orlando will consist of two components: an expo and a speaker series called Park-n-Chats. The expo will begin in The Center’s parking lot and lead into its main floor. Participants in the expo include reThink Your Commute, Commute Orlando, Cycling Savvy, Bike/Walk Central Florida, Rusted Chain Bike Collective, Rollins Bike Club, The SMART Ride, Scottie Saves the World, LYNX, Central Florida Bike Bus, and more.
The Park-n-Chats will take place on The Center’s second floor. Speakers scheduled to appear include Marianne Gurnee from SunRail, Keri Caffrey from Cycling Savvy, Courtney Miller from reThink Your Commute, and Cristina Cruz from Got Bikes. Bruce Stephenson, Director of the Environmental Studies/Growth Management Program at Rollins College, will speak about the benefits of walkable communities.
