Orlando Museum of Art Halloween Events

This October the Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) will present Halloween season events for adults and families. Edward Gorey's work, macabre pen and ink illustrations, is featured in the current exhibition Elegant Enigmas: the Art of Edward Gorey, which closes on Halloween at 4pm.

Special events include:

Daddy-O: Picasso Pumpkins designed for children of all ages and their Dads, Uncles, Grandpas, or Big Brothers to enjoy creative pumpkin decorating together. Park Maitland Art teacher Nick Wozniak will guide this spooky masterpiece making on October 16 from 1:30-2:30pm. Pre-registration is required, call 407 896 4231 x262.

For all artists over 10, Gorey Goblins and more...An Adventure into the Dark Side with Pen and Ink is a workshop inspired by the drawings of Edward Gorey where participants will learn similar techniques to create cards, decorations and more. Pre-register by October 20 to join the fun on October 23 from 12pm-4pm, call 896 4231 x262.

Not-so-Gorey Stories with Bill Cordell will be presented for children of all ages with slightly, frightfully, fun stories. This half-hour program is free with admission on October 24 at 1:30pm.

For Halloween enthusiasts looking for a scare, Gripping, Gruesome & Gorey: Ghastly Stories and other Macabre Tales will bring haunting and mysterious professional storytellers and spine-tingling thrills from Edward Gorey tales and others on October 24 at 2:30pm. Beware: not for the faint of heart or young children!

The OMA is located in Orlando Loch Haven Park at 2416 North Mills Ave., Orlando, FL. From I-4 take the Princeton Street exit 85. Drive east on Princeton Street, and at the corner of Princeton and Mills (US Highway 17 / 92), turn left. Go one block to east Rollins Street and turn left.
