Art in the Chambers | Lynn Pauley and Her 1996 I-Drive Convention Center Paintings

The reception for one of the “Art in the Chambers” exhibitions was Monday October 4, 2010 at the Orange County Administration Center (201 S Rosalind Avenue, Orlando). New York artist Lynn Pauley was on hand to discuss her 1996 work which was recently moved from the Convention Center to the chambers.

Commissioned in 1996 to paint pictures of I-Drive and other tourist sites over the course of ten days, the artist shared how she got the job: a friend of hers was a relative of then Mayor Linda Chapin. The pieces paid for by the county include paintings of Mary Poppins, alligators, women in hoop skirts and other significant tourist experiences.

Also in the atrium and on the 5th floor are 30 photos by local artists that each include a small red chair. These were part of the county's contribution to the Red Chair Affair: a book called “The Red Chair Visits Orange County Public Art.”
