The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and the City of Winter Park invite you to celebrate the spirit of the holiday season at their annual outdoor Holiday Pops concert on Sunday, November 28, at 4:00 PM in Winter Park’s charming Central Park. This concert is free.

The Orlando Philharmonic’s annual Holiday Pops Concerts have become a tradition in Central Florida. Bring a blanket and a picnic and get ready for a concert program of holiday favorites that will be sure to put you in the spirit of the season!

Maestro Dirk Meyer leads the Orlando Philharmonic in a beautiful program of holiday favorites. The program includes Chase’s Around the World at Christmas Time, selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, and Wendel’s Caribbean Sleigh Ride. Soprano Susana Díaz takes the stage to perform selections including Silent Night, Ave Maria, Joy to the World, Let it Snow and more.
Meyer was appointed Assistant Conductor of the Sarasota Orchestra in 2006, and quickly earned an outstanding reputation with musicians, audiences and critics, alike. He also serves as Music Director of the Sarasota Youth Orchestras, whose first season under his baton culminated in a Carnegie Hall performance in New York City. With a passionate interest in the music of our own time, Meyer founded the Art Nouveau Chamber Orchestra in 2003 to promote the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. The orchestra has subsequently commissioned and premiered several new compositions. Meyer recently compiled 20th Century Chamber Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra Music: A Catalog, published by Scarecrow Press in 2010.

Díaz, who dazzled Philharmonic audiences with her beautiful voice in the Orlando Philharmonic’s production of Carmen, has been featured by many leading regional companies including the Cincinnati Opera, Dayton Opera, Florida Grand Opera and Ballet Florida. Interpreted roles include Violetta in La Traviata, Gilda in Rigoletto, Adina in L’Elisir d’amore, Elvira in I Puritani, Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, and the title roles of Lakmé and Lucia di Lammermoor.
