Some locals are putting together a tv show aimed at teaching science to kids in a fun way. If you'd like to help them, they've started their own kickstarter campaign here. One of the Producers, Darren Humphrey, describes the show, his partnership with his friend Chris May and the fundraising effort below.
I've always been a big fan of science, what with being a Computer Scientist and all. And Chris, well he used to be a 7th grade science teacher before he became a rocket scientist. He's got degrees in physics and in aerospace engineering. And that's no jive. Degrees from right here at the University of Central Florida. Go Golden Knights!
So anyway, two and a half years ago we started developing a concept for this show. And in the spring of 2010 we finished Episode #1 of The Science Zone! It's a 1/2 hour comedy show with live action, puppets and animation all rolled into a lesson on science. Our first episode was about Buoyancy.
Now we are asking for your help in producing Episode 2 and beyond. We are ready to shoot, but we need your help to cover the costs of production. All of the money you donate (less the fees we have to pay) will go towards paying:
Production costs for Episode 2
Pressing of professional quality DVDs of Episodes 1 & 2
Fulfilling rewards promised to donors
If after doing that, there's money left over, we have 25 more episodes planned!
