10-12-10 | John Rife sat down with us to talk about his latest project, the Winter Park Harvest Festival, which comes up November 20th in downtown Winter Park.
The festival includes a locals-only farmers market, perfect for picking up your Thanksgiving provisions at, since the holiday is mere days away from the festival. 400 grow boxes (mobile garden beds) will be on display. They will be filled with plants as they were distributed to are schoolchildren and adults months prior. This will be the first mobile community garden ever!
Classes on worm composting, the local food shed, eating local, the Tera Madre conference, Farm Aid and more will be offered. Live traditional folk music will be performed live throughout the day. Also, food vendors will be on hand to sell locally-produced food. That evening, a ticketed dinner will be served, made completely with local ingredients. If you wish to skip the dinner, the film "Fresh" will be shown out on the main lawn. There will be of course kids activities galore.
