The 13Th annual pARTicipation pairs regional artists and colorful cooking at Maitland Art & History Center with three events scheduled: (1) Opening Reception Friday, March 25, 2011 6-9pm, (2) Artist Tribute Saturday April 2, 5:30- 6:30pm (3) Top Artist, Top Chef Dinner Affair, April 2, 6:30pm.
During the reception on March 25, guests can explore the Art Center’s galleries and gardens and view the creative process as artists work on original pieces. The night also gives patrons first bids in a silent auction of artwork that continues online, March 25- April 2. Cost: $5
The Artist Tribute honors an artist who has made a significant impact on Central Florida’s visual culture. J. AndrĂ© Smith, founder of the art colony that would become the Maitland Art Center, will receive the 2011 inaugural award. Complimentary beer and wine will be served
Top Artists & Top Chefs Dinner Affair, where patrons experience visual and culinary creativity at the top of its game. Some of the best regional artists join in this year’s event including Kathleen Brodeur, Edson Campos, Butch Charlan, Cicero Greathouse, Bernard Martin, Steve Piscitelli, Robert Reedy, Dawn Schreiner, and Que Throm.
Each artist hosts a table to discuss their approach and inspirations for art. Guest chefs, to be announced at the reception, compete live for menu and food preparation honors. Cost: $100 includes access to all three events and A&H membership.
