Not too much going on this week, unless you're a Miranda Cosgrove or Sister Hazel fan. As always, if there's something else happening that you're excited about, go ahead and mention it in the comments!

Wednesday - February 16

Loud Valley / Futurebirds / Oh Fortuna at Backbooth

Orlando's own Loud Valley have a debut record to unveil, and Wednesday night's show will double as a launch party. I like the handful of songs of theirs I've heard. Their songs are more rich than most standard indie fare - check out the trumpets on 'Modern Age', below - and they're bringing their pals Futurebirds (from Athens, GA) and Oh Fortuna (from Gainesville) along for the celebration. The album is described as "a chronological account of a day", and it'll be nice to hear it all in sequence.

Glassjaw at Firestone Live

I never really got into Glassjaw, though many of my friends in London in 2001 did. I remember their video for 'Cosmopolitan Bloodloss' with Vincent Gallo, and thinking it was pretty cool. Apparently, they haven't released any more albums since then. Crazy! But now they're back? If you're a fan, you should probably be excited.

Friday - February 18

Neil Hamburger at Backbooth

Can you imagine being dragged to this show by a friend, not knowing anything about what to expect? "Come on, you'll love it! This dude's hilarious," your friend might say. Neil Hamburger is, after all, America's Funnyman. Well, you might be in for a surprise. What can you expect? Watch the clip below. You'll either think that his shtick of one-liners, self-deprecation, throat-cleaning and the line "But that's my life!" is the funniest thing ever, or you'll want to stab your friend (remember, from earlier) in the leg. I think he's the greatest. Not everyone will agree.
