Twelve21 Gallery | Doug Rhodehamel DESICCATION

Doug Rhodehamel is having his first Twelve21 Gallery (1221-C North Orange Ave. Orlando FL) show DESICCATION Feb. 25 - March 25, 2011. The opening reception is February 25, 7pm - 10pm. His show features a new collection of aquatic life from the deepest depths of the sea. All of the work is made completely from dried leaves, stems, seeds, flowers, buds, bulbs thorns and other various plants matter. The pieces have the look and feel of a turn of the century expedition collection. Each piece is assembled to give the appearance of a dried and mounted aquatic specimen.

He's reconstructed pieces of exotic plant matter from Leu Gardens he collected over the past four years into octopi, fish, mollusks and other ocean dwellers.

"It's been a complete pain in the ass, and I think you're gonna like this one."
