Informational Meeting About Donating Bone Marrow

This is different from my usual posts but an important meeting has come to my attention. On Tuesday, March 29 at Valencia Community College’s west campus, Phi Theta Kappa and Kids Beating Cancer are holding a meeting to inform people how they can become bone marrow donors. According to the Puget Sound Blood Center, there are thousands of people who need bone marrow transplants every year but about 70 percent do not have a genetically matched family member who can donate. Then, that means, the patients' lives depend on finding unrelated people, often within their own ethnic group, with a compatible tissue type, who is willing to donate marrow for them. This is where you can make a difference.

Come to the meeting on Tuesday, March 29 and support Phi Theta Kappa and Kids Beating Cancer to raise awareness about the need for bone marrow donations and learn about the organizations' future events.
